House things

I know, I know I'm rubbish! Haven't posted in ages because of all the stress of buying my bloomin' house and the lack of money it has left me with...boo :-(
Due to my serious skintness I have been completely unable to shop, thus making it rather difficult to blog about things I've been buying...so I thought I'd update you all anyway by letting you know I have just bought a fridge! Haha not exactly what you follow me for...but it is a beauty...

ooooooooh shiny!

In other news I am seriously coveting an oversized floppy hat right now...I saw one in Primarni for a mere £6, but due my silly small head it was way to big...not a good look.  I did, however manage to find one in Urban Outfitters that was made for little-people-heads and was a perfect fit...the only problem being that it was £28....anyone fancy getting it for me for my birthday on Wednesday?

Rings and pretty things

The husbamd and I are currently trying to make the biggest purchase of our lives (a house) and it is very stressful and scary.  Everytime I sit down to write something goes wrong and I have to sort it.
To cheer myself up I bought this pretty little ring from Riess, it’s like geometric YSL…I love it! It’s also a little treat to say well done me for doing so well at not biting my nails.

Who wants to buy me a present...?

So, it’s my birthday in a few weeks (woop woop) and I have known what I want this year pretty much from the day after my birthday last year!
This is the year of the Wang, and know I’m not talking about man bits…I am of course referring to the amazing and oh-so-cool Alexander Wang.  This year I am going to beg, borrow and steal whatever I can to purchase this beauty:
Rocco Satchel (Emerald)
All donations welcome!

Winter is coming...

To my pure delight the nights are getting darker and the days are getting colder, I LOVE winter!
So all this can only spell one thing…kintwear shopping!
So off to Topshop I go, as it’s great for all those throw-on-with-anything pieces.  And let me tell you I emerged victorious!  I found a gorgeous oversized jumper and they had it in no less than 5 different colours: burgandy, blue, cream, grey and oatmeal for £26 a piece.  It is a common trait of mine to find something I like and then get it in multiple colours, so I settled on the cream and grey versions for now and will no doubt go back for the rest in the next month or so!

New jeans

I know what your thinking, and trust me, I agree with you whole-heartedly.  I HATE jeans shopping, it never fails to make me cry!  I am not a skinny girl, I have a big bum and thighs like a stallion achieved through years of dance training in my youth and as such, fall into a deep pit of depression whenever I try on jeans.  I have got to the point where I simply won’t wear them anymore, instead opting for jersey skirts and leggings as they always fit!
But when I saw the most beautiful pair of Paige “verdugo ultra skinny” cut jeans in work in magenta (or “joker purple” as the hubby calls it) I fell in love a little bit.  I have wanted a pair of coloured jeans for ages but never succeeded in finding a pair that didn’t make me look like an idiot, but throwing caution to the wind and with a little help from my HN girlies I thought I’d give them a go. To my surprise, a friend and colleague advised me that I did NOT look like a giant grape as she had done when trying on the same pair, and I was smitten.
Needless to say, I ended up leaving with them for a cool £33, thanks to my £100 voucher and staff discount combined.  They are super stretch as well meaning they are mega comfy and I would definitely recommend that you have at least one pair in your wardrobe.  I intend to pick up some more in sale.  A word of advise when you get yours: go snug to allow for the super stretch!

Thank you HN!

Today I am a happy lady as I have just received £100 worth of vouchers from work. Good times! “Why?”, I hear you ask…well the reason behind this sudden burst of generosity is that I recently scored 100% in a mystery shop. Hooray.
So now is the dilemma of what the hell do I spend it on?! Now as you can imagine, £100 will not get me that far…so do I go for something small, or do I use it to save me a chunk on something big…I can’t bloody decide!
Obviously I will keep you all updated and if you have any suggestions feel free to let me know!

Jeffrey's

The latest addition to my wardrobe is a pair of Jeffrey Campbell platforms.  I love Jeffrey Campbell shoes…they are simply cool and amazingly so comfy! And my pair are no exception.  I fell in love with their 60s shape, not to mention how tall I was when I tried them on…they made my legs look rocking which is no mean feat!

I love pairing them with cute ankle socks!

My baby

By far the most significant purchase I have made to date would be my Mulberry. Now I am not normally a Mulberry fan, I appreciate the craftsmanship and the quality of the goods but they are just not my style…it’s all a bit safe.  However when this little number arrived in a delivery one morning I fell in love…I knew it had to be mine.
I give you my limited edition leopard print Oversized Alexa….isn’t she a beaut?!
Look familiar? Shortly after I bought it I spotted this baby on the arm of Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl…it made me very happy!

Jewellery, jewellery and more jewellery...

I have amassed a fair amount of jewellery whilst working in Harvey Nics from a Kenneth Jay Lane Cuff to a Marc by Marc Jacobs necklace.
Here are a few of my favourite pieces:
Alexander McQueen Skull Ring

Monica Vinader Friendship Bracelets (worn with Gucci watch and 3 bracelets I picked up on holiday for €2 a piece)
Alexander McQueen Leopard Pony Double Wrap Bracelet

Superhero Chic

By this time winter was fast approaching and I thought to myself “I really am in need of a new winter coat”.  All I currently had in my wardrobe was my AllSaints leather jacket.
Coats have always proved problematic for me as generally, I don’t feel the cold that much. All I need is something to take the edge off but if I wrap myself up too much I get boiling hot…It’s the Essex Gene.
The answer presented itself in the form of a cape….a Vivienne Westwood….again
I love this cape…Jimi says I look like Miss Marple in it but I don’t care!

Sunnies

The next thing I needed to buy was a decent pair of sunglasses for the honeymoon (we went to Universal including Harry Potter Land…it was awesome!). But me being me I couldn’t just get one pair could I?!
Now it is important that you realise that sunglasses shopping is most difficult for me.  I have a small head, massive fringe, tiny nose and wonky ears…all this spells out sunglasses disaster

My silly face :-s
Thanks to this face I am forced to buy any pair of sunglasses in which I do not look like a complete idiot.  To my astonishment I found two such pairs at work so decided one pair would be my hair up pair and the others would be my hair down pair…it was all perfectly logical I tell you!
The hair down pair (Miu Miu):

The hair up pair (Chanel):

It may be worth noting that I took four pairs on honeymoon in total…the above two along with two cheap pairs, one for swimming and one for on rides incase they got damaged.  Now I know what you’re thinking: you’re thinking “but Sarah, that’s crazy, how can you possibly need four pairs of sunglasses for a two week holiday?! I refuse to believe you need a hair up pair, a hair down pair, a cheap pair for swimming and a cheap pair for rides. It’s MADNESS!”
Well the jokes on you because my cheap pair for rides snapped at the end of the holiday and my swimming pair got considerably damaged….so I was right all along!

McQueen times 3

So one of the first things I managed to convince myself I needed was a McQueen Scarf…having already bought my first a few months earlier prior to landing the job and ergo, staff discount (boo…but to be fair I had wanted one since going to Liberty when I was like 9…mum  can vouch for me!), I decided I needed a black and white one to wear for work and make me look the part.  And with my uniform allowance taking it down to a very reasonable £70 (bargain if you ask me!) and knowing how much I’d wear it (“cost per wear” again) it was a no-brainer.  This may have led to another one…my current total being three…but the third was a different style and much bigger so it’s fine…..

My McQueen’s in all their glory :-)…and don’t think I’ll be stopping at three…it’s just a matter of time….

A new job with staff discount...

My biggest downfall to date was probably starting my job at Harvey Nichols, Bristol in the accessories department.  A job that came with 30% staff discount on pretty much everything as well as uniform allowance…
It’s amazing how you can convince yourself that you NEED something by using the excuses that “it is a piece of design history…an icon” or my personal favourite “but cost per wear…”
This is how I justify EVERYTHING!
So in the next few posts I will be giving you a round up of some of things I have bought on my staff discount…

Wedding Shoes

I fell in love with these shoes long before we got married but then after the tragic suicide of McQueen I knew i’d need to get hold of them sharpish.  After initially purchasing a pair in Harvey Nichols (which I subsequently had to return as I have child-size feet :-s), the lovely people in the McQueen shop on Bond Street managed to order me a pair from Milan in a 2 1/2…I still had to wear heel grips on the day though.
They are without a doubt the most beautiful thing I own…

And for those who are interested, here is us on the day...

The obsession...

The bags
The first of these was a gift for my 16th birthday and then the collection grew...all Westwood

The shoes that started it all...

My first designer purchase, a pair of Vivienne Westwood shoes purchased when I was 15 from Poste Mistress in Convent Garden…they are very well lived in as you can see!
These are single-handedly responsible for my decline into poverty! After these I would go into London on a monthly basis to buy myself a designer goodie with the money I saved working after school.

New beginnings...

So I have decided that in order to take this blogging malarky seriously I ought to port my existing blog over  here...so I will now be blogging simultaneously on Blogger and Tumblr...everyone's a winner!

I'll start by porting over some of my previous entries so all you lovely people on blogger can get an idea of what I've been up to and what I'm all about.
The idea for this blog came as I realised I spend an obscene amount of money I don't have on clothing and accessories and in an attempt to curb my addictions I thought I'd start up a blog, the theory being that if I wouldn't deem it worthy of blogging about, I won't buy it, thus saving my husband and me lots of money HAZAAR!

It may seem like a boring idea...but a small part of me is convinced that there must be someone somewhere out there in the ether that is interested in what I have bought in the past and plan to buy in the future...so I guess we'll see.

If you have any questions aywhere along the way feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer!
